Well, I’m sure there are plenty of folks who don’t like bacon. My youngest daughter is a vegetarian, so she doesn’t eat the real stuff. But me, I’m only a part time vegetarian, so you never know what I may partake in. So on this particular Sunday afternoon, we found ourselves having lunch at The Grind Mac & Cheese Burger Bar in Martin, TN. This is one of those places that has above average burgers, a fun, but loud atmosphere, and a lot of nice odd-ball things that you just don’t find at many other local places. Well today, one of the odd-ball things we tried was the Maple Glazed, Torch Fired, “Million Dollar Bacon.” So what does Million dollar bacon look like? Well it’s served on a little rack that looks like something you may have your towels hanging on in the bathroom. Who knows, maybe they got this one out of the bathroom? (Just kidding.) Anyway, the bacon has obviously already been cooked, but it comes out with the individual slices hanging from this little towel rack. Once it reaches your table, your server heats/crisps it up a little more with a hand torch. And like everything served at The Grind, it’s likely a little more expensive than it should be, but it’s always very very tasty. And while the Million dollar bacon might not cost a million bucks, it just may almost taste like it.
Anyway, the next time you’re in Martin Tennessee, a little college town in North West corner of Tennessee, stop by the Grind Mac & Cheese Burger Bar and try some Million Dollar Bacon. You’ll be glad you did.
Until next time, enjoy life while you can, and stay hopeful.
Dave.
