We finally got it…

So this is a followup to our post about getting our passports. Now I know this is kind of a crazy time to be doing anything. The coronavirus seems to be getting in the way of almost everything. So I’m not sure if it helped, hindered, or just didn’t change a thing relating to the way the State Department is working. Anyway, we submitted our applications through our local Post Office on October 9th 2020. I received my passport on December 3rd and my wife’s came in the next day on December 4th. So in total, about seven and a half weeks to have our passports in hand. Our personal identification documents were returned a few days later.

Now we were told by the lady that processed our application that it normally takes 10 weeks, and that we could expect as much as 12 weeks before delivery. I don’t know if they tell people that so that when you get them earlier than expected, you think they’ve really done a great job? Kind of like Scotty telling Kirk it’ll take a week to fix the hyper drive, then when he does it in a few hours he’s considered a miracle worker. Either way, I’m happy that we finally have our passports.

If you’re in a real rush, you can always add the additional $60 fee to get the Expedited Service. I’m not sure how much time that’ll knock off the process. Otherwise, sit back and wait. If you submit everything correctly, you should be able to receive your passport within a reasonable time. My advice would be get it now, before you need it, then you wont have to wait. So if you’re like us, and have been landlocked your whole life, you may want to consider getting a passport. One thing is for sure, you can only go so far without one.

So until next time, keep moving forward, press toward the mark, and stay hopeful.
Dave.
